PSPHP Announces New Secretary General and Deputies

To meet the challenges of greater responsibility, PSPHP expands its Secretariat team to support the newly appointed Secretary-General.

The Philippine Society of Public Health Physicians, during the meeting of its Board of Trustees last April 27, 2024, appointed Dr. Theo Prudencio Juhani Capeding as its new Secretary-General. The PSPHP Secretary-General oversees the operations of the organization under the President of the organization.

Dr. Capeding finished his medical degree from University of the Philippines - Manila in 2015, and became a municipal health officer of the island municipality of Tagapul-an in the province of Samar for three years. He worked as a consultant for different organizations, notably in the World Health Organization - Country Representative Office in the Philippines and USAID's ReachHealth project. He also had his master in public health degree from London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM).

During the same Board of Trustees meeting, the position of Deputy Secretary-General was also created as a response to greater operations and representation needed and expected from the organization. Four deputies are appointed:

- Dr. Alberto "JR" Ong Jr., former PSPHP Secretary-General 2020-2024

- Dr. Jana Deborah "Jana" Mier-Alpaño

- Dr. Paulo Remudaro

- Dr. Paul Anthony Cordova
