Professional Summary

Dr Lester Sam Araneta Geroy is the Founding President of PSPHP and currently chairs the PSPHP Board of Trustees. He has led teams to prepare several national policies e.g. the National Unified Health Research Agenda (NUHRA 2017-2022), the DOH Manual of Operations and Standards for Palliative Care 2021-2028, the National Action Plan for Antimicrobial Resistance (2017-2022) and the Development of Action Plan for the Implementation of the Framework Convention for Tobacco Control (FCTC) (2018-2019).

Dr Geroy finished Medicine at the UP College of Medicine in 2005.He completed Masters in Public Health (MPH) at UP Open University and Masters in Health Policy, Planning and Financing at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), and the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (LSHTM).

He has contributed to the research, design and early implementation of several PhilHealth benefits including Children with Disabilities, Adult Rehabilitation, Mental Health, Premature Babies and Small Newborns, and Acute Coronary Syndromes specifically ST Elevation Myocardial Infarction. Dr Geroy has supported the DOH in the development of health policies and programmes e.g. immunization, tobacco control, disabilities, injuries, health emergencies, safe hospitals, hospital design and project management of international grants and loans. In the past seven years, Dr Geroy has been a consultant of DOH, UNICEF, WHO, PhilHealth, Alliance for Improving Health Outcomes (AIHO), European Union, Physicians for Peace Philippines (PFP), Philippine Society of Public Health Physicians (PSPHP), USAID, Philippine Red Cross and PCHRD, among other international and local organizations and hospitals

Strategic Plan of Action

  1. Strengthen the committees especially TPC, Membership, Business Dev and Finance.
  2. Support and campaign for more Regional members
  3. Organize PH Philippines for non-MDs
  4. Organize BOT Alumni or Advisory Council
  5. Strengthen PH Convention and Cultivate magazine
  6. Increase PSPHP and PH Philippine members who study masters and PhD abroad
  7. Enhance partnerships with other professional societies, government agencies, NGOs and the private sector
  8. Ensure upholding of PSPHP core values and fellowship among members
